While this results in a dazzling display of exciting psychedelic hues, the excess stimulation can have a severe detrimental impact on the nervous system, making tweaking a dangerous and escalating phenomenon in Humanity City. Unfortunately, the euphoric and psychedelic effects produced by the hacked MVT are highly addictive, posing significant risks to those caught in this growing epidemic.

The patterns on Scavboy scouts' faces represent confirmed safe routes they've discovered in different danger zones while scavenging for supplies. These intricate patterns double as maps, navigating them through hazardous terrain and guaranteeing a safe return home. The markings also highlight areas abundant in viable supplies, indicating spots worth revisiting for salvaging. In case the dangerous terrain shifts, these scouts have alternative routes to navigate and knowledge of safe zones. Within the community, these markings symbolize bravery, resourcefulness, and success in supporting the community. The more routes imprinted on a Scavboy Scout's face, the greater they are esteemed. It's worth noting that "Scavboy scout" is a term; there are also female Scavscouts.

Amiyah's father, Kirby St. John, wasn't born a Humanity Citizen; originally part of the Scavenger Community, he grew up in Shanty Towers. However, Kirby's mother wanted a better future for him than the hazardous life of a Scavboy scout. When Kirby turned 11, she bartered their family rations to secure him an MVT implant and enrolled him as an essential laborer student at Ember Academy. Excelling academically, Kirby gained credentials to join the essential labor class in the office of Security and Enforcement. Through dedication and hard work, he climbed the ranks and now serves in administration as the lead detective for the Humanity Anti-Infractions Bureau (HAIB).
